What it means to be responsible... ANZ's new workplace showcases innovation in green building.

More than 6,500 ANZ employees will soon be working in one of the largest and most environmentally progressive workplaces in Australia.

ANZ's new building at 833 Collins Street in Melbourne's Docklands is under construction now and will be completed in late 2009.

The building is designed to produce 60% less greenhouse gas emissions and use 60% less water than the average commercial building in Australia.

Some of the environmental features include a river cooling system to reduce the demand on the cooling towers used for air conditioning, rainwater recycling to irrigate landscaped areas, and a tri-generation plant to generate on-site electricity.

Shared facilities inside the building such as multifunction printers will reduce the power used compared to having individual machines and print management systems will reduce the amount of uncollected printing waste.

The building is registered for a Green Star rating with the Green Building Council of Australia for the categories 'Office as Built', 'Office Design' and 'Office Interiors'.
